Our Summer Clubs are addressed to middle and high school students who are looking to expand their imagination, learn new skills and cultivate their inventiveness by hands on experiences in science and technology.  

 
Embrace your creative side, satisfy your curiosity and cultivate your inventiveness with fun and exciting activities that include: 
 
>  Learning about basic science concepts and programming 
>  Learning about engineering, science and technology 
>  Design, building and operation of robots 
>  Game Development 
>  Introduction to rocket science and physics 
 
Sessions will run daily between 8am and 1pm. 
 
Attendance is free of charge. 
 
Places are available on a  first-come-first-serve policy. The maximum number of participants per week is 15. 
 
IMPORTANT: Each student must bring their own portable pc to classes daily. All class work will require the use of one.

SCHEDULE 

Week 26-30 June / E - magination week (Greek)

June 26 and 27:  

Robotics 

The Epiteugma Revved Up elite team, comprised of students from the Epiteugma Robotics Lab, powered by Wargaming, will be taking part in the CYENS Summer School to teach robotics. They will cover various hardware topics, utilizing America's FTC REV advanced robotic platform, as well as programming skills. On the second day, all participants will engage in a friendly competition, showcasing their mini-robot game expertise. 

June 28  

Rocket Science 

Introduction to rocket science & physics behind rockets and water rockers, water rocket building and launching by the esteemed team of the CSEO (Cyprus Space Exploration Organisation) 

June 29-30  

Constructions with Micro:bit technology and electronic fabrics 

An experiential hands-on workshop, during which, participating children will have the opportunity to study and program the Micro:bit, a small portable programmable computer, by creating constructions from electronic fabrics. One such example will be to program the Micro:bit to light up when exposed to sunlight, while attached to a piece of clothing.

Week 3-7 July / E - magination week (English)

July 3 and 4

Week 10-14 July / E - nventors week (Greek)

July 10 and 11  

Introduction to Game Development 

The Two-Day Video Games Development and Artificial Intelligence workshop will start off with an introduction on Video Games, their History and basic Game Technologies. Then we will have an Introduction to Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and how they are used in Video Games. During this workshop, we will have a short introduction to Game Development by implementing a simple game using the popular Unity Game Engine. 

July 12

INSTRUCTORS 

Epiteugma Revved-Up Team

Epiteugma Revved Up is the elite robotics team from Epiteugma Robotics Lab Powered by Wargaming. All members of this team, that consists of gymnasium and lyceum students, have gained significant experience over the past ten years, in robotics through lessons attended at Epiteugma Robotics Lab, covering various robotics platforms, such as LEGO, ARDUINO and FTC REV. They have participated in numerous national competitions in Cyprus ranking 1st. They have also traveled to various countries representing Cyprus at various World robotics competitions, with amazing results and awards earned. Members of the Epiteugma Revved Up team have also taught more than 50 high school teachers promoting robotics in private and public schools. 

 

Annapoorni Parli Chandashekar 


Annapoorni Chandrashekar is a postgraduate student of Education and Technology at Institute of Education, University College London. She works with schools, nonprofits and partners to transition pilots to scale and take community learning initiatives to diverse teachers and students. Prior to Canva, Annapoorni led the Digital vertical of India's largest non-profit, Pratham and bootstrapped an EdTech start up incubated at IIM Bangalore, India. Having been in the EdTech space for the last 8 years, Annapoorni is excited about new technologies, products and media to make learning more accessible, creative and fun for learners. She is an Alumni of the Young India Fellowship at Ashoka University, and a bachelor’s degree in automobile engineering. She has been a speaker at TEDx, a IIEP author and a Bharatnatyam dancer. 

 

Panagiotis Charalambous

Dr. Panayiotis Charalambous is a Research Assistant Professor and team leader of the V-EUPNEA: Living, Breathing Virtual Worlds group at the CYENS Centre of Excellence. His research interests include Computer Animation, Virtual Humans, Crowd Simulation, Digital Cultural Heritage and Real-Time Technologies for Digital Twins and Filming. He has experience in teaching Computer Graphics, Computer Games, Introduction to Programming, Data Structures and Algorithms, Video Processing among others. He has been participating as a mentor and tutor for the Logipaignion game programming competition (now called GDC) since it was conceived. Additionally, he has presented at the first version of the Global Game Jab held in Cyprus.

CSEO 


CSEO Space Engineering workshop.
A short introduction into space engineering. Learn some principles in engineering for space exploration missions. Get to put those principles into practice by get some hands on experience completing activities hosted by engineers working on current space missions.
