Research / Pillars & Groups / Communications & Artificial Intelligence / SNS / PhD Topics / Reliability, Fault Tolerance, and Resource Management for IoT Networks and Devices
17 January. 2021
The aim of this position is to create novel protocols and algorithms for the secure and reliable operation of IoT networks. Work will include the development of new distributed and efficient algorithms tailored to the IoT environment and underlying network infrastructure that take into account the device mobility, their limited energy and computational power. More specifically, work will encompass one or more of the following: to design novel cross-layer security protocols, avoiding the incremental application of existing security technologies and work on recovery techniques that involve alternative path creation with static or mobile nodes. Work may leverage existing work on Lightweight Intrusion Detection for Wireless Sensor Networks and extend it, considering the characteristics of IoT networks, new attacks, new topologies, new classification algorithms, etc. Work may also take advantage of established algorithmic solutions in utilizing mobile nodes for alleviating congestion control and extend them to manage the reconfiguration of a network, after a fault.
