CYENS Centre of Excellence (formerly known as RISE) is the Research and Innovation Centre on Interactive media, Smart systems and Emerging technologies empowering knowledge and technology transfer in the region. CYENS CoE is supported by the European Commission, the Republic of Cyprus and its founding Partners, the Municipality of Nicosia, the Max Planck Institute for Informatics (MPI), University College London, the University of Cyprus, the Cyprus University of Technology and the Open University of Cyprus.   

The Centre conducts excellent, internationally competitive scientific research in the areas of visual sciences, human factors and design, communication, and artificial intelligence delivered by high-calibre multidisciplinary research teams. CYENS engages in knowledge transfer and innovation activities aiming to bridge the gap between scientific research and STEM-led innovation and entrepreneurship. 

 CYENS, as a Centre of Excellence, cultivates a culture of innovation and creativity in an inspiring environment filled with academics, researchers, creative and onward-looking people, innovators, entrepreneurs, and practitioners. The Centre operates under the moto “Inspired by Humans Designed for Humans” with the vision to produce world class research that drives innovation towards social and economic benefit while conducting excellent, internationally competitive scientific research in the areas of visual sciences, human factors and design, communication, and artificial intelligence. It sets out to meet the challenge with a total potential funding of more than 30 million Euros for the first 7 years, from a Horizon 2020 Teaming Action and multiple other sources, and a business plan for long-term sustainability and growth. 

The Centre is seeking for a Marketing and Communication Manager to join its fast-growing team of passionate and enthusiastic professionals.  Marketing and Communication Manager  will be responsible for all aspects of our marketing operations, including planning, implementing, and monitoring digital marketing campaigns across all digital networks. 

 

Responsibilities of Marketing and Communications Manager  

  1. To participate in the preparation, planning, and full execution of the strategic marketing and communication plans for CYENS including advertising, promotion, and sales activities intended for CYENS’s target groups and stakeholders, providing full coverage of research and innovation activities. 

  1. To keep abreast of market trends and conditions and provide relevant recommendations internally. 

  1. To develop CYENS marketing and communication database and manage the CRM’s marketing module. 

  1. To monitor analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing, advertising, communications, media, and campaigns.  

  1. To assess the impact of the initiatives performed, and generate reports on the KPIs on marketing, advertising, and promotion. 

  1. To update and present the Centre’s compelling story as we grow stakeholders. 

  1. To prepare content for the publication of marketing material and oversee distribution. 

  1. Develop and monitor marketing advertising and communication campaign budgets and expenses. 

  1. To work with stakeholders to promote CYENS’ activities. 

  1. Design and oversee all aspects of the Centres’ digital marketing unit including marketing database, email, display advertising campaigns and social media platforms. 

  1. Plan and manage social media platforms. 

  1. Prepare accurate reports on marketing campaign’s overall performance. 

  1. Coordinate with advertising and media experts to improve marketing results. 

  1. Identify the latest trends and technologies affecting the Research and Innovation industry. 

  1. Evaluate important metrics that affect website traffic, service quotas, and target audience. 

  1. Oversee and manage all contests, and other digital projects. 

  1. Working on Search Engine Optimization and app store optimization. 

  1. Regularly monitor user analytics and use these insights to drive strategies to secure downloads and improve customer engagement 

 

General qualifications and requirements 

  1. University Degree (Bachelor’s Degree or Degree of a level equivalent to Bachelor’s Degree) or Diploma or Certificate or other study title or qualifications in Marketing, Communication or relevant field. 

  1. Minimum 2 years of relevant experience serving in university, industry, and/or professional institutions will be required. 

  1. Solid knowledge of marketing techniques and principles. 

  1. In-depth knowledge of various social media platforms, best practices, and website analytics. 

  1. Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is required. 

  1. Highly creative with excellent analytical abilities. 

  1. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. 

  1. Up-to-date on the latest trends and technologies in digital marketing. 

  1. Copywriting skills (traditional, digital, social); 

  1. Thorough understanding of social media and web analytics;  

  1. Experience in content creation, media planning and reputation management; 

  1. Good understanding of market research techniques, statistical and data analysis methods; 

  1. Avid interest in Interactive Media and ICT technologies considered an advantage; 

  1. Computer literate - excellent knowledge of MS Office and marketing software (e.g. CRM); 

  1. Language requirements: Excellent knowledge of both spoken and written English language; 

  1. For non-EU applicants a work permit will be required

  1. Strong organizational, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, having the ability to deal confidently and politely with enquiries.
