Biography

Evangelia Athanasiou received in 2020 her bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, with a minor in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Cyprus. Her thesis focused on the physical characterization of nanoparticles for breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, including image processing analysis. Following that, Mrs. Athanasiou obtained a Master of Science in Engineering at the Biomedical Engineering Department of the Technical University of Denmark, with a special focus on signal processing. Her master’s thesis project was focused on extracting neural correlates of audiovisual speech perception from EEG using ICA. At the same time, she has also been involved in several projects, giving her the opportunity to explore various areas in the field of biomedical engineering. Finally, she worked for almost two years period in iMotions company, where she was working with various biosensors, developed study protocols and conducted data collection and analysis. Her research interest includes the use of technology in solving primary healthcare problems by analysing bio-signal features. Currently, Mrs. Athanasiou holds a Research Associate position at Neo-Move and CCAPPS research groups.
