With Artificial Intelligence we are now entering a new creative side of computer processing. Computers can now play games, paint, color, write music, synthesize voice and more. Yiotis Katsambas, Director of Technology at Sony Pictures Animation, will be joining us in this upcoming webinar where he will present recent AI advancements and how they could potentially enhance the creative process for filmmakers and artists. Yiotis hopes to inspire a young generation of artists in Cyprus to get into Animation and other Arts and pursue their dreams.

Yiotis Katsambas is the Director of Technology at Sony Pictures Animation. A native of Nicosia, Katsambas has been recognized with several accolades from his home country, including the Cyprus Man of the Year in Arts (2008), and the Nicosia Honorary Medal (2019), awarded by the mayor of Nicosia for his technical achievements at Sony Pictures Animation and for his contribution to the making of “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.” Katsambas was also the recipient of the Hollywood Post Alliance Engineering Excellence Award (2013) for his role in the creation of industry-standard pre-production software Flix |

Yiorgos L. Chrysanthou is the Research Director of the Centre on Interactive Media, Smart Systems and emerging Technologies (RISE). He is also a Professor at the Computer Science Department of the University of Cyprus. Yiorgos’ research interests are in the wider area of Computer Graphics but over the last few years he has been focusing more on Virtual Humans and Computer Animation, looking lately at solutions that rely heavily on Artificial Intelligence. |
