Logipaignion: Experts’ Presentations to the students

On Wednesday 22nd January 2020 and Wednesday 29th January 2020, two of the three meetings with the teams that are participating in the competition Logipaignion took place at RISE’s premises. One more meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 19th January 2020 addressed to University students. RISE is organizing the competition this year in collaboration with the Computer Science Department at the University of Cyprus and the Computer Science Department at the University of Nicosia. The goal of the meetings is to raise awareness on the topic of Smart Cities and how Nicosia is to become one with RISE’s contribution, to have students meet an expert in Game Design and, finally, to learn about the basic principles of Game Development.

The meetings were a great success. They were attended by Gymnasium and Lyceum students and their teachers. They included a presentation on “Smart Cities” by Dr Demetris Antoniades (RISE), a presentation on Game Design by Alexandros Mitsis (Wargaming) and a presentation on game development by Dr Panayiotis Charalambous (RISE).

There was great interest on all three topics and the students had some very interesting questions and exhibited a surprising, given their young age, depth of knowledge on technical issues. It was especially interesting to see the young participants immersed in the notions and mechanics of a Smart City, the enticing details of Game Design and the inventive technicalities of Game Development.

We look forward to seeing the students' final creations!
