Enhancement of Heritage Experiences: the Middle Age Digital Layered Models of Architecture and Mural

Research / Pillars & Groups / Visual Sciences / V-EUPNEA / Projects / Enhancement of Heritage Experiences: the Middle Age Digital Layered Models of Architecture and Mural

The EHEM project aims to obtain virtual reconstructions of medieval artistic heritage architecture with mural paintings that are as close as possible to the original at different times, incorporating historical-artistic knowledge and the diachronic perspective of heritage, as an instrument for researchers, restorers and heritage curators and to improve the visitor's perceptions and experiences.

Using digital models, the project is trying to understand the architectural complexity of buildings, solve painting’s chromatic problems and raise and propose the resolution of lighting problems of the medieval building and its paintings.

EHEM is coordinated by the University of Barcelona and the consortium includes the Roma Tre University, the Tuscia University and CYENS CoE.

Dr Panayiotis Charalambous (Leader of the V-EUPNEA: Living, Breathing Virtual Worlds Research Group at RISE Research Center) is the local Principal Investigator.

Other people involved in the project are Prof. Andreas Lanitis, leader of the BIO-SCENT research group, Prof. Theopisti Stylianou-Lambert, leader of the MUSEUM LAB research group, Maria Shehade Research Associate of the Museum Lab and Maria Paschali external collaborator at CYENS  CoE.
