Congestion Control Algorithms for the Internet of Things

Research / Pillars & Groups / Communications & Artificial Intelligence / SNS / Internships / Congestion Control Algorithms for the Internet of Things
16 January. 2021
Wireless Sensor Networks are special types of networks with limited communication, processing and energy capabilities. As such, particular attention was given to congestion control, with many solutions being proposed. The extension/evolution of WSNs and their incorporation to IoT creates the need to revisit the topic. This topic deals with the implementation of specific traffic and overload control algorithms in IoT (which will stem from prior work in WSNs). Algorithms will deal with queue management and multiple and alternative path routing. Students will have to get familiarized with the operating system (Contiki) and the accompanying sensor simulator (COOJA), which will not be difficult since they are both C/C++ based.
Objectives
To create new algorithms for WSN and IoT congestion/overload control

Expected deliverables: Final Report, Simulation Scripts
